1. Wayfarer

If you didn’t know back in May I finally read this phenomenal story by Alexadra Bracken and it quickly became one of my all time favorite reads EVER. I can’t get over it still and I will definitely be doing a review over Passenger very very soon so look out for that (: This is the second novel in Alexandra Bracken’s new series Passenger and just look at the cover. Gorgeous. Passenger is a historical fiction, time travel, young adult novel (with some romance in there (; ). Sounds amazing right? But if you haven’t read Passenger yet here is a brief synopsis for you.

2. Frostblood

A few months ago I was searching through my good friends Good Reads and the highly anticipated books of 2017. My eyes quickly snagged on this beautiful cover..I mean look at it *heart eyes* but I have to tell you that the synopsis is what made me add this to my TBR very fast. Frostblood is Elly Blake’s debut novel and new series Frostblood Saga and it sounds nothing short of incredible. Here is description.

Seventeen-year-old Ruby Otrera lives in a world where fire and ice are mortal enemies. Ruby is one of the last firebloods, second-class citizens of the kingdom of Tempesia. There, the ruling frostbloods are determined to locate and destroy all remaining firebloods in the realm. Ruby lives with her mother in a remote village, hiding her unpredictable powers of heat and flame. After the king’s soldiers raid her small village and drag Ruby to prison, though, she is set on a dangerous and unexpected path. Blake’s debut fantasy novel is a familiar tale about a young woman finding her way in a troubled and prejudiced world. With a few allies, including frost-wielding monks and a mysterious and irresistible masked warrior, the heroine becomes the key to a rebel plot to assassinate the king. Despite some formulaic plot elements, this is an enjoyable, fast-paced debut that blends romance into a story of suspenseful battles, royal prisons, and rebel schemes. VERDICT This series opener is perfect for fans of Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen and will delight those who love fantasy, adventure, and romance.

I know. Sounds incredible doesn’t it? Don’t worry though you still have time to pre-order but hurry! It releases on January 10th (:

3. Windwitch

Ah. These covers with be the death of me I swear. So Windwitch..to be honest I am still reading Truthwitch. I know. So no spoilers please! But I have pre-ordered Windwitch because as far as I’ve got into Truthwitch I can already tell that it will be one of my all time favorites. Windwitch is the second novel in Susan Dennard’s The Witchland series which I believe consists of 4 novels in the whole series. If you have already read Truthwitch and need a refresher I highly recommended that you check out Susan’s recap tweet it is hilarious. You can check it out here: https://mobile.twitter.com/stdennard/status/815711261430349824 Susan also recommends that you re-read Truthwitch after reading Windwitch because some hidden things you didn’t realize before will become known (; Here is a summary of Truthwitch is you have not read it yet.

On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery,” a magical skill that sets them apart from others.

In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble–as two desperate young women know all too well.
Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.
Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her–but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.
Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

What sounds better than a bunch of badass witch best friends? I’ll tell you. Nothing.

There is also amazing pre-order swag for this novel as well and you can check that out here: http://thewitchlands.com/offer/us/

There is also one for Canada too I believe. The last day to get your swag is on January 9th so hurry! and be sure to add Windwitch to your TBR list and pre-order it releases on January 10th (:

4. Roseblood

Roseblood has been on my TBR for so long and I can’t believe it is about to release! Roseblood is a standalone novel and a re-telling of The Phantom of the Opera. I can tell that already caught your attention (; I have been a huge fan of The Phantom of the Opera for as long as I can remember so the fact that I now get to read it in novel form and by none other than A.G. Howard is pretty much a dream come true. This is a YA, fantasy, re-telling with obviously some romance in there *heart eyes* Here is a description for Roseblood:

Rune, whose voice has been compared to that of an angel, has a mysterious affliction linked to her talent that leaves her sick and drained at the end of every performance. Convinced creative direction will cure her, her mother ships her off to a French boarding school for the arts, rumored to have a haunted past.

Shortly after arriving at RoseBlood conservatory, Rune starts to believe something otherworldly is indeed afoot. The mystery boy she’s seen frequenting the graveyard beside the opera house doesn’t have any classes at the school, and vanishes almost as quickly as he appears. When Rune begins to develop a secret friendship with the elusive Thorn, who dresses in clothing straight out of the 19th century, she realizes that in his presence she feels cured. Thorn may be falling for Rune, but the phantom haunting RoseBlood wants her for a very specific and dangerous purpose. As their love continues to grow, Thorn is faced with an impossible choice: lead Rune to her destruction, or save her and face the wrath of the phantom, the only father he’s ever known.

I think that speaks for itself. Be sure to add this to your TBR and pre-order you own copy! There is also a awesome pre-order giveaway which you can submit here: http://piquebeyond.com/roseblood/ also be sure to upload before the 9th! Roseblood releases January 10th (:

5. Carve the Mark

Carve the Mark in all honesty is something I am a little apprehensive about. I am not the biggest fan of Sci-Fi but 2017 is all about broadening the horizons. Right? Also I really enjoy reading Veronica Roth’s writing and can’t wait to dive back in to another world of hers. Here is what Carve the Mark is about:

On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their currentgifts, Akos and Cyra do not—their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control. Can they reclaim their gifts, their fates, and their lives, and reset the balance of power in this world?

Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra’s currentgift gives her pain and power—something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.
Akos is from the peace-loving nation of Thuvhe, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Though protected by his unusual currentgift, once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive—no matter what the cost. When Akos is thrust into Cyra’s world, the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. They must decide to help each other to survive—or to destroy one another.
Even if you aren’t the biggest Sci-Fi reader, like me you can’t deny that this sounds pretty awesome. There is a pre-order gift for Carve the Mark as well and everyone needs it! Details here: http://www.carvethemarkbooks.com/exclusive-divergent-gift last day to submit is the same day the book releases! January 17th (:

6. Caraval

Caraval by Stephanie Garber is a novel that I am so stoked to read! I am bouncing in my seat right now. Seriously. Beautiful cover and a beautiful description. If you loved The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern like I did I think we can all agree this is something to be really excited about 😀

Here is what Caraval is about:

Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.
Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.
There is pre-order gifts for Caraval which you can enter your proof of purchase here: http://stephaniegarberauthor.com/pre-order-page/

There is one for US and UK. There is also a way you can order a personally signed copy on Kepler’s books. I’m not exactly sure when the last day you can apply for these but it says while supplies last. This novel releases January 31st (:

7. The Book Jumper

This novel is basically every readers dream come true. When I came across this it didn’t take me but a split second to add this to my TBR. This is what The Book Jumper by Mechthild Gläser is about:

Amy Lennox doesn’t know quite what to expect when she and her mother pick up and leave Germany for Scotland, heading to her mother’s childhood home of Lennox House on the island of Stormsay.

Amy’s grandmother, Lady Mairead, insists that Amy must read while she resides at Lennox House―but not in the usual way. It turns out that Amy is a book jumper, able to leap into a story and interact with the world inside. As thrilling as Amy’s new power is, it also brings danger: someone is stealing from the books she visits, and that person may be after her life. Teaming up with fellow book jumper Will, Amy vows to get to the bottom of the thefts―at whatever cost.
Like I said every book readers dream come true. *heart eyes* This releases tomorrow!

8. Wait For Me

Wait For Me by Caroline Leech is a YA historical fiction romance novel that takes place in no other than beautiful Scotland! I’ve never read a book that takes place there so I am super excited to read it. Here is what Wait For Me is about:

In 1945 Scotland, Lorna Anderson is tending to the family farm alongside her father while her older brothers are fighting in World War II. Her mother passed away when she was young, leaving Lorna to grow up quickly and assume many of the household responsibilities. After Paul, a German prisoner of war with a badly burned face, is assigned to work at the farm, Lorna’s initial uneasiness turns into respect, friendship, and, finally, a forbidden romance. Tension between Lorna and her best friend, Iris, increases as each falls in love for the first time. Lorna longs for the war to be over, but the end is bittersweet, as her future with Paul is uncertain. Though missing his mother and younger sister, Paul is unsure whether he will have a home to return to after Dresden is left in ruins. Leech creates a fast-flowing narrative that immerses readers in the couple’s complicated love story. Historically accurate details, along with a helpful appended section of notes, deepen the sense of time and place. Fans of Ruta Sepetys’s and Laurie Halse Anderson’s historical works will enjoy this debut novel. VERDICT Historical fiction, forbidden romance, and a coming-of-age tale combine into a memorable story.

Be sure to pre-order! It releases on January 31st (:

9. Cage of Deceit

Who doesn’t love a good YA Fantasy novel with Romance? (:

Here is what Jennifer Anne Davis new novel is her new series Reign of Secrets is about:

Seventeen-year-old Allyssa appears to be the ideal princess of Emperion–she’s beautiful, elegant, and refined. She spends her days locked in a suffocating cage, otherwise known as the royal court. But at night, Allyssa uses her secret persona–that of a vigilante–to hunt down criminals and help her people firsthand.

Unfortunately, her nightly escapades will have to wait because the citizens of Emperion may need saving from something much bigger than common criminals. War is encroaching on their country and in order to protect her people, Allyssa may have to sacrifice her heart. Forced to entertain an alliance through marriage with a handsome prince from a neighboring kingdom, she finds herself feeling even more stifled than before. To make matters worse, the prince has stuck his nosy squire, Jarvik, to watch her every move.

Jarvik is infuriating, bossy and unfortunately, the only person she can turn to when she unveils a heinous plot. Together, the unlikely pair will have to work together to stop an enemy that everyone thought was long gone, one with the power to destroy her family and the people of Emperion. Now the cage Allyssa so longed to break free from might just be the one thing she has to fight to keep intact. In order to save her kingdom, she will have to sacrifice her freedom, her heart, and maybe even her life.

10. The Silver Gate

About: Elric, though just a boy, is charged with a secret that could damage his entire family if the lord of the property discovers it—or rather, her. His father claims that Elric’s younger sister, Wynn, is a changeling, switched by fairies as a baby, which explains her speech impediment and physical difficulties. Hidden away, Wynn has grown up safe and happy until her mother dies and she is alone, unaware that her father feels as if he has no choice but to offer her as a servant to the castle. Elric knows that his innocent sister will end up abused in such a situation, so he spins a story to draw Wynn into a journey toward a safer village. Along the way, they argue as many siblings do, but ultimately learn that they must forgive and support each other to survive. Bailey deftly explores bullying and the definition of “normal.”

Releases January 10th!

11. Under Rose Tainted Skies

So excited for this one!

About: Seventeen-year-old Norah Dean hasn’t left her house in four years, and the only people she allows around her are her mother and her therapist. She has been diagnosed with agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and anxiety, and because she attends school online, she experiences life mainly via social media. Norah’s tightly structured world begins to change when her new, very cute neighbor Luke spies her using a stick to pull groceries in from the porch. Romance quickly blossoms but not without setbacks. A love story set against the backdrop of debilitating mental illness, this debut novel is a poignant work, infused with humor, self-doubt, and, eventually, self-acceptance. Drawing from personal experience, the author intelligently and sensitively presents Norah’s myriad emotions and her constant battle against her own mind, depicting panic attacks, stream-of-consciousness inner monologues, and more. Mature language and situations combine with the frank, realistic detail as Norah explores her first relationship and her own mental health.

Releases tomorrow! 😀

12. The Achemists Loom

Okay. First off such a badass cover. I am currently reading Air Awakens by Elise Kova which is the first book in her Air Awakens series which also has awesome covers and I wanted to mention that Elise Kova is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite authors and I can’t coherently talk about how excited I am for this series! Here is a description of The Achemists Loom which releases January 10th (lots of books releasing on this day :o) :

Her vengeance. His vision.

Ari lost everything she once loved when the Five Guilds’ resistance fell to the Dragon King. Now, she uses her unparalleled gift for clockwork machinery in tandem with notoriously unscrupulous morals to contribute to a thriving underground organ market. There isn’t a place on Loom that is secure from the engineer-turned-thief, and her magical talents are sold to the highest bidder as long as the job defies their Dragon oppressors.
Cvareh would do anything to see his sister usurp the Dragon King and sit on the throne. His family’s house has endured the shame of being the lowest rung in the Dragons’ society for far too long. The Alchemist Guild, down on Loom, may just hold the key to putting his kin in power, if Cvareh can get to them before the Dragon King’s assassins.
When Ari stumbles upon a wounded Cvareh, she sees an opportunity to slaughter an enemy and make a profit off his corpse. But the Dragon sees an opportunity to navigate Loom with the best person to get him where he wants to go.
He offers her the one thing Ari can’t refuse: A wish of her greatest desire, if she brings him to the Alchemists of Loom.

AND LASTLY

14. The Edge of Everything

About:

Seventeen-year-old Zoe Bissell has had a rough year. She hasn’t been able to find closure following her father’s unexpected death in a caving accident and the disappearance of two beloved neighbors. Then, during a harsh winter storm, she and her eight-year-old brother, Jonah, are attacked. X, a handsome and mysterious stranger, comes to their rescue. Unbeknownst to Zoe, X is actually a bounty hunter from a dark, unique area of Hell known as the Lowlands, and he was sent after Zoe’s attacker’s soul. Despite X’s hellacious origins, he and Zoe form an intense connection, and X learns empathy for humans. The romance will not be without consequences, though, as some beings from the Lowlands are not happy about X’s and Zoe’s intense feelings for each other, and Zoe’s friend Dallas could end up with a broken heart. Giles’s fantastical novel reads like a blend of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” and modern-day horror, such as Stranger Things. Zoe is an empowered, complicated female protagonist with a huge heart, and X is a heartthrob with a twisted past and a thoughtful persona.

And that my friends is it. I hope I didn’t accidentally miss one but these are all of the amazing novels that I am looking forward to this month and I hope you found some that were interesting and support these incredible authors. Again, Happy New Year and May The Force be with us.

Lots of love, Kenzie.
